What is this scan?
The anomaly scan (TIFFA — Targeted Imaging For Fetal Anomalies) is a detailed mid-pregnancy ultrasound that checks each organ system of the baby for structural abnormalities.
When is it performed?
Performed between 18 weeks and 22 weeks of pregnancy. Earlier or later than this window may reduce diagnostic accuracy.
Preparation
- No fasting required.
- Eat a normal meal before the scan — an active baby is easier to examine.
- Empty bladder before the scan.
- Bring all previous scan reports.
